The NFL Helps Bring Youth Football to Westchester

Warren Rosenberg, MetroSports Magazine - July 23, 2022

MetroSports Magazine loves football and especially players with local roots. In past issues we've featured NY Giants players Curtis Riley from White Plains High School and Jimmy Kennedy from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers. We've featured the Army Football team from West Point and the Tri-State Shields of the National Public Safety Football League, both populated with many players from the local area.

Earlier today, MetroSports Magazine had the pleasure of covering a summer workout for a new youth football league in Westchester County, Mad Dog Football, part of the NFL FLAG football initiative. Mad Dog Flag Football is powered by NFL FLAG which is backed by the NFL. NFL Flag is no contact, inclusive, and easy to learn. Flag football is the ultimate team sport that teaches leadership, sportsmanship, and self-confidence on and off the field. Flag football creates a welcoming community for young athletes to be a part of and grow with across their journey with the sport.

The mission of Mad Dog Sports is to grow and develop young athletes in a fun, safe, friendly, and competitive environment.

Sports are a valuable and vital part in building a child’s ability to discipline themselves and learn to play with a team. Mad Dog Sports promotes positive competition, character development, and family involvement. Boys and girls of all abilities are welcome to play.

Mad Dog Flag Football has also partnered with The Village of Elmsford and utilizes Alexander Hamilton High School's state of the art turf football field completed in 2021. For decades baseball has been played in Elmsford but athletes who wanted to play football had to travel to other towns. Mad Dog Flag Football based in Elmsford, NY brings football home and invites athletes from all surrounding areas.

We look forward to covering Mad Dog Flag Football in the upcoming season.
