After putting away their opening round win against Westchester's Masters School Panthers, Long Island's 2016-17 Class A Champion Elmont High School Spartans tipped off against the Susquehanna Sabers in this evening's Championship Final.  The Sabers came out on fire with a spirited offense that delivered 15 points in the first quarter and crushing defense that held the Spartans to only 3 points. Things evened out in the second quarter with Elmont coming back to convincingly take the third quarter 14-7.  In a hard-fought contest, these two teams battled to a tie.

Attesting to talent on court, the depth of the benches, and superior coaching the teams battled through the first overtime, each scoring six points, and failing to break the tie. It took a second overtime for the Susquehanna Sabers to finally overcome the best that Long Island had to offer. For her outstanding effort in both games and on both offense and defense, the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation presented Maeve Donnelly with the Tournament Most Valuable Player trophy.
